Senior Ambassador Programme

What Is It?

A space to grow, connect and back yourself.

The Shona Project Senior Ambassador Programme is for young women who want more than just getting through the next stage of life.

It’s for those who are curious about their future. Those who want to build confidence, direction and connection. Those who believe that support makes a difference.

This programme brings together a small group of young women, guided by an inspiring female leader, to grow together across the year.

You’re not just joining a programme. You’re choosing to invest in yourself.

The Senior Ambassador Programme supports young women as they step into adulthood, college, work and everything in between.

Across the year, you’ll be part of a close-knit group that meets regularly to talk honestly, set goals and support one another. You’ll also gain access to women who have walked this path before you and are willing to share what they’ve learned.

It’s about confidence, clarity and community, and knowing you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

How The Programme Works

Monthly group meetups

You’ll meet online once a month with your group of Senior Ambassadors and your dedicated leader. These sessions are a chance to check in, reflect, set goals and talk through real-life challenges in a supportive space.

There will also be two in-person meet-ups during the year, giving you the chance to connect face-to-face with your group and the wider Shona community.

Meet your leader

Each group is guided by an experienced woman who has built her own career and life path. Your leader’s role is not to lecture or tell you what to do. It’s to hold space, ask questions and support meaningful conversations that help you grow.

Peer support

At the heart of this programme is the group. You’ll grow alongside other young women who are figuring things out too. You’ll support each other, celebrate wins and show up when things feel hard.

What Do Senior Ambassadors Get From The Programme?

This programme works because people show up for themselves and for each other.

By being part of the Senior Ambassador community, you will gain:

• Greater confidence in yourself and your decisions
• Support with college, career and life goals
• Meaningful connections with peers and mentors
• A sense of belonging and community
• Space to reflect, grow and be heard

How To Get Involved!

We only ask a few things of a Senior Ambassador. You are expected to attend the monthly sessions and be actively involved. If two meetings are missed during the year, participants may be asked to step away, except in exceptional circumstances.

We create a respectful and supportive environment where everyone’s voice matters. Confidentiality, kindness and listening are core to how this space is held.

Beyond the programme

When you complete the Senior Ambassador Programme, you become part of the wider Shona alumni community. This keeps you connected to future opportunities, events and ongoing support.

Because growth doesn’t stop at the end of one year, and neither does community.

Would you like to join our community of Senior Ambassadors?

But, don’t just take our word for it, here’s what Lynetta had to say:

“Every time I tell someone that I am a Shona Ambassador, I can’t help but smile. Being a Shona Ambassador is more than inspiring, I have found a platform where my voice is amplified in advocating for girls' empowerment, women in STEM, and social equality...

I always know that I am not doing this alone; my messages are echoed. In every discussion that I chaired and participated in, whether it was about time management, racial respect, or religious diversity, I learned to pose questions to promote discussions and connect all our ideas together, to ensure that every word in our circle is valued and cherished...

I love it when I witness a girl, who is a bit shy initially, begins to gradually share more about herself and her perspectives. I see myself in them, and I hear the power in their voice. I know for a fact that they will grow to be future leaders."
